This post outlines my top 8 reasons why someone who has a keen eye for talents, IT savvy, highly self-motivated and optimistic, resourceful and aggressive should try their hand at becoming a recruitment consultant. If you are already a recruitment consultant, then this post might help you remember the positive aspects of the job.
8. Strike a topic with anyone and make new friends easily
When someone asked you what do you do for a living and you reply with “I’m a recruitment consultant”. Questions will start pouring in and you can give professional advice to them. You can also share your encounters and memorable incidents with them.
7. You can work from office or even home
If you have no interviews for the day or you’re under maternity leave, you can work from home. I have seen top consultants bringing in sales from home and they don’t have to wear a suit everyday but sometimes, you need to dress to impress.
6. You don’t really need a degree
I hope this will not stir up some serious debates here. But it is proven that you don’t need a diploma or degree to get a job as a recruitment consultant and earn more than $5000 per month, unless you are involved in research or very technical work, or the company requires you to have a degree or master due to branding reason.
5. New challenges everyday
Everyday is a new day for recruitment consultants. This is definitely not a dull job as you get to meet new people and overcome new challenges everyday.
4. It’s not an easy job and people respect that
Every successful placements come with a story behind it because we’re dealing with human beings. You will come across candidates who stood you up, never report for work on day one, candidates who rejected your client’s offer and those who resigned after a few days of work. Most of your clients engaged more than one job recruitment agency and so, you have to be better and faster than your competitors.
3. Your clientele grows naturally and you may have a client for life
When you first started off as a junior consultant, you have a point to prove and so, you will need your clients more than they need you. After you have established your credibility, you will realize that your clients keep coming back to you and your clientele grows naturally when the contact person moved to another company. It’s also a job where you don’t have to prospect everyday.
2. Job satisfaction
Of course, you help to improve the quality of life of your candidates, they will be thankful to you. Your clients appreciate when you recommended and placed a talent with them successfully.
1. It’s a job for life
There are definitely no immediate danger of jobs running out, agree? As long as there are job opportunities everyday and companies continue to hire, you will be safe. A successful recruitment consultant is well sought after and enjoys a very high employability rate.
